The Japan Cultural Institute in Paris:Japanese Cinema: Discovering of an Unknown Continent

French film connoisseurs often say "Japanese Cinema is still an unknown continent." Among a variety of programs presented by the Japan Cultural Institute in Paris (Maison de la culture du Japon a Paris (MCJP)), the screening of Japanese films is always one of the most popular program. From summer to autumn in 2010, MCJP offered retrospectives of three Japanese film directors.

The Japan Foundation, Mexico:Kabuki: Encounter with 400 Years of Tradition

In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Japan-Mexico relation, the Japan Foundation hosts "Kabuki: Encounter with the Tradition of 400 Years" in Monterrey on October 8 and in Mexico City on October 12-13. It was the first Kabuki performance ever held in Monterrey, and the first in 22 years in Mexico City since 1988.

The Japan Foundation, Beijing:LThe Japan Foundation, Beijing's Lecture Series on Prefectures in Japan For In-depth Understanding of the Charm of Localities

In summer of 2010, the Japanese government expanded the issuance of tourist visas to Chinese individuals. Most of Chinese tourists, however, still prefer to visit only major cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kobe. To promote further understanding of distinctive local culture, society, and customs of various cities throughout Japan, the Japan Foundation, Beijing presented a series of lectures on prefectures in Japan.
