The Japan Foundation (JF) has presented the Japan Foundation Prizes for Global Citizenship since 1973 to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to promoting mutual understanding between Japan and other countries through a wide range of cultural activities, including academic and artistic endeavors, and who are expected to continue their work in the future.
For the 52nd awards in fiscal year 2025, the recipients were Professor Jung Giyoung of Busan University of Foreign Studies(BUFS), who has devoted over 30 years to research and practice in Japanese language education based in South Korea, and Mr. Marty Gross, a Canadian film director and archivist who has long introduced Japanese culture to the world.
In Feature 88, we present reports from the commemorative lectures of each of the 2025 Japan Foundation Award recipients.
