Activity Reports:Japanese-Language Education Overseas:Indonesian Version of "Nihongo de Care-navi," Is Now Available on the Web English Version Is Also Updated!

In 2007, the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Kansai opened a website called "Nihongo de Care-navi" in order to support Japanese language learners working in the fields of nursing and care-work. "Nihongo de Care-navi" is an Internet tool that provides a Japanese-English / English-Japanese dictionary of basic words and expressions used in nursing and care-work scenes. The site also contains useful expressions for communicating with colleagues and patients or for expressing one's feelings. These expressions can be used in one's daily life and also for work in other fields. This site has received over 1.2 million accesses in two years since its opening.

The Japan Cultural Institute in Rome:Various Exhibitions and Popular Film Screenings

While Roma is famous for archaeological sites such as the Colosseum, many exhibitions of modern art are also held in this city. The Japan Cultural Institute in Rome has been hosting a variety of exhibitions to introduce Japanese art to Italian people.

In 2008, Japan Brazil Network Television (JBN) started in Brazil: the world's first medium to offer a broad introduction of Japanese culture.

The Japan Foundation, Jakarta:Lecture-Demonstrations by Koto Player Chieko Fukuda

After conclusion of Japan-Indonesia 50th Anniversary Year in 2008 brought some relief to us, we welcomed Ms. Chieko Fukuda on February 17, 2009 for her one-week visit to Indonesia. Ms. Fukuda is a leading player of classical styled koto, and she was appointed as Special Advisor for Cultural Exchange by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2008.

On March 11 and 12, 2009, The Japan Foundation co-hosted the symposium with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Kansai NPO Alliance.
